My Project Reflection
How did this learning strategy impact your experiences as a learner?
This project has been a really exciting one to me, I have challenged myself and I am really happy with the amount that I have been able to post on my blog. I think that having people do something that will positively impact their life in such a turbulent time, is a really welcomed experience and it was a fun change.
What was your experience using digital technologies to produce, publish, and share your learning progress and outcomes?
I really liked using different mediums for creating content for this blog, it challenged me to be better and it was a fun and exciting journey to learn about something that is so relevant to education today.
What did you like? What would you do differently?
I think reflecting back I really liked that I chose to do cooking, it is something that I enjoy and have grown to be better at over the course of this blog. I do think if I was going to do it again it would be cool to do something I have never done before, I have always been curious about learning sign language so I think if I was going to do it again I may try to do that. However, I am grateful that I chose to do the topic I did because not only is it inspiring me to be better and try new things, but it is also helping me to connect with my family and share recipes with them that they may enjoy.
How did your inquiry project experience influence your professional development as an educator?
I think it pushed me to have a more diverse skill set when it comes to online education. I really enjoyed getting to learn so many new tools for education and I think that in the future so many of these tools are going to be incredibly useful and helpful for teaching classes in a constantly changing education system.
How would you use and adapt this framework for your own classroom and subject teachable?
I think with my teachable's in English and Geography having students do a genius hour project would be really useful. I think that teaching them new tools maybe once a week or once every two weeks and having them try to use them for classwork and their genius hour project would be a really useful way for them to not only engage in the course but also engage with their own identity. Student's in high school are at a critical age where they are deciding on their future. By giving them an opportunity to explore their interests I think they would be really appreciative of that experience. I also think using a blog is a really cool idea for book clubs or discussion posts, that is something I have seen before in English and I think it is a great way to introduce technology.
